PR Agency: Behind the Scenes

PR Agency: Behind the Scenes

By Hannan Ben Slimane, Intern

As I started my internship at Fusion, I couldn’t help but think about how a PR agencies work on a daily basis. Is PR really a harsh field? Thanks to my internship, I found the answers. Yes, PR is really a harsh field.

For this blog article, I want to comment on an article I found on PR Daily. The article explains pretty well how a PR agency works, the expectations and what people really do. I noticed that people have a lot of assumptions about PR but do not really know about it.

Clearly PR daily life is tough but at the end of the day, you will be rewarded for what you are working on (if you worked hard on it). It may not come fast, but working in PR demands not only writing skills but a lot of patience too. I know a bunch of people who want to work in PR, but only see the glitz and glam of it. Unfortunately, they are not aware of what it takes to be an efficient PR pro.

Here are the few things that drive a PR agency, according to PR Daily:

  • Constant Creative Demand
  • Continuous Gear Shifting and Learning
  • Multiple Personalities. Or at Least Perspectives
  • A little, A LOT of initiative

There is an important fact about PR, no matter how long you have been working in the field, you can always learn. The process of learning is not only during internships, but executives will also learn from their own experiences with the work they do, bad or good.
