I’ve got the key… it’s called experience

By Danielle Wald, Intern

Making a career choice can be one of the most daunting experiences in a person’s life. There are thousands of paths one could take and it seems almost impossible to make the right decision. So, how is it that people arrive at their chosen professions? Why do some love their work, while others are so dissatisfied?

It’s all in experience.

Often time’s people attempt to select a career based on their schooling and talents. While this works for some, there are still those who must gain experience in a variety of disciplines in order to choose their best fit. These experiences will not only enhance the knowledge previously known about a job, but will help those understand exactly what the job entails. During my time at Rutgers University, I have taken up many extracurricular activities as well as internships and jobs that I believe will help me gain the experience and skills that I need. My learned knowledge through coursework, as well as these opportunities will help guide me toward my professional career.

Making the decision to intern at Fusion this summer has been a wonderful choice. I have only been working here for a few days, and yet I have learned more about public relations than I imagined I would. I am sure that this summer will help direct me toward my correct career path.
