My First Week at Fusion

My First Week at Fusion

By John Tateossian, Intern

Starting a new adventure can always make you nervous or anxious. Especially when you start this adventure in a place you are not used to or have never been. When I learned I would be given the opportunity to be an intern at Fusion Public Relations this summer it was the best news I had gotten all semester. The only thing that made it better was that I would also finally be working in New York City. I have always wanted to be a part of the working culture of New York City and working at Fusion made this possible for me.

I did not know what to expect at my internship here at Fusion. Having two previous internships at smaller firms, it would be a new experience and a fresh environment, which made me more excited. However what made me excited also made me nervous. Would the commute be long? Where do I go? How far is it? What if I get lost? All these questions started swirling around in my head. I also knew very little about the technology industry, which added to my nervousness. It is safe to say I was equal parts excited and nervous.

After my first day, every ounce of anxiety was completely gone. Just after the first week, I realized this internship would be my most valuable yet. Working in an awesome part of the city would make it even better as well. From the start, everyone was incredibly nice and willing to help me get settled in and I immediately felt as a part of the team. I was also given work right away. I realized over the course of my first week that this wasn’t just work to keep the intern busy. It was work that was directly helpful to the others in the office. It was not just important to me because I was the one doing it, but important to whomever needed it as well.

After just one week of being an intern at Fusion I already feel like a valuable part of the team. I have also learned more about the technology industry than I thought originally. I can already tell this internship will be the most helpful and informative one I have had and can’t wait to continue and better myself and the team here at Fusion.
